![]() Road noise in my Corolla is a great amount higher than road noise in my 2001 Silverado, provably because there is a lot of room between the pavement and the floor of the Silverado, I assume. I can drive my Silverado over these things a lot faster (slower too), and smoother, than driving my Toyota Corolla. I will add something using my own experiences: taller tires ease the driving over small road imperfections such as cracks, very small potholes, and gravel. Now 3/4 ton and 1 ton trucks are quite different as they are made to haul a lot more weight and do ride quite stiff. If you test drive one and I think you'd be quite surprised! Though modern mud tires are very quiet compared to the old school ones, trucks are typically sold off the lot with very quiet, street-oriented tires unless you get a performance off road package such as a Raptor! Are they what I would think of as a Mercedies in quietness? No. Also, the modern trucks are so insulated from road noise it's not an issue. The 1/2 tons ride great and their long wheelbases soak up the bumps.
